DA: No Criminal Charges in Boating Death of 8-Year-Old Boy
BROCKTON — After an investigation, it has been determined that no criminal charges will be filed in the tragic drowning of an eight-year-old boy in a boating accident in Wareham this summer, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
On July 29, 2017, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office were advised of the death of Harry O’Connor (DOB: 03/23/09) at Children’s Hospital in Boston. O’Connor had been transported to Children’s Hospital as a result of a boating accident which occurred on July 26, 2017.
The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on O’Connor and determined that the manner of death was ruled an accident.
The decision follows an investigation by Massachusetts Environmental Police, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the United States Coast Guard, Wareham Police, and the Wareham and Marion Harbormasters.
