BROCKTON — A Brockton woman killed by a car while walking in the city on Wednesday morning has been identified as 50-year-old Chafang Wu.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz noted in a statement that Wu was struck by a Toyota Prius at around 6:36 a.m. Wednesday near Ash and West Chestnut streets.

Brockton police received a 911 call reporting a woman hit by a car, and arrived to find the victim suffering from her injuries at the scene.

She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation from state and local police indicated that the Prius driver was traveling along the road when they hit Wu.

The driver immediately stopped and remained at the scene, the D.A.'s office noted.

No foul play is suspected.

The investigation is ongoing.
