There's some changes coming to the Hayden-McFadden Elementary School in New Bedford, thanks to a $1.2 million state grant.

Hay-Mac has been designated an under-performing school, and the grant money will be used to improve academic acheivement there.

Assistant Supt. for School Improvement Jane Daley says the school has developed an excellent turnaround plan that focuses on a longer school day, and more help for students.....

Its the first time New Bedford has received such a grant to address a level four school.

The city also applied for a grant to assist the Parker School but that request was denied.
