Wareham Police Recover Gun, Search for Suspect in Monday Shooting

Wareham Police are now searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting in the town Monday.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for 20-year-old Lashii Ortiz, with residences listed in Brockton and Onset. Ortiz faces a charge of assault with intent to murder and multiple firearms related violations.

Police say reports of shots being fired at an adult male on Martin Street in Wareham came in around 7pm Monday night. No injuries were reported.

Earlier this morning, police were notified that a loaded 9mm handgun was found by a person walking on the Joseph Grassia Bridge. The weapon has been recovered by police. It's not known if the gun is connected to the shooting.
