WAREHAM — On Friday, May 12, at approximately 9:30 pm, Wareham Police officers responded to the area of 408 Main St. for the report of a vehicle that struck the house with its side mirror, then fled the area.

After receiving a description of the vehicle from witnesses at the scene, an officer assigned to a detail noticed the described vehicle drive by and provided further information, which led to the vehicle being located as the operator attempted to pull into his residence on Cromesett Road in Wareham. The residence is located approximately 2 miles from 408 Main Street.

When interacting with officers, the operator of the vehicle, 41-year-old Jason Mackenzie, was noticed to be intoxicated to the point of almost falling over while attempting to exit the vehicle. Mr. Mackenzie, who was uncooperative, was placed into custody at the scene by Officer Stephen Harrison.

Mackenzie has been charged with OUI Liquor (third offense), Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of Property Damage.
