Police Seize More Weapons After Marion DUI Arrest
MARION (WBSM) — The Wareham man that was arrested earlier this month after allegedly passing out behind the wheel while in possession of firearms has now had six more firearms seized by police.
Marion Police arrested Brian M. Ewan, 67, on Saturday, October 4 after they were called to the Cumberland Farms on Wareham Road for a report of a man passed out in a vehicle. At the time, he allegedly had a handgun in his waistband, and police found a sawed-off Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun in his truck.

Police later seized additional firearms from his vehicle: a .22-caliber GSG Firefly handgun, a .45-caliber Highpoint handgun, a .44-caliber Pietta black powder pistol, a 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun, a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle, and upper and lower receiver parts for a .223/5.56-caliber rifle.
More than 175 rounds of ammunition were also seized, as well as multiple BB guns, cocaine, and what Chief Richard Nighelli called “another bag containing a brown powdery substance that requires further testing.”
In addition to the nine charges Ewan was already facing, he is now facing 14 additional charges, including four counts of possession of a firearm without an FID card (subsequent offense), five counts of possession of a large-capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without an FID card (subsequent offense), possession of an unlicensed assault weapon, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number in the commission of a felony, and possession of a Class B drug.
Following his original arraignment in Wareham District Court on Oct. 6, Ewan's bail was set at $7,500. He will be summonsed to court at a later date for the 14 new charges.
"What began as an impaired driving investigation ultimately resulted in the recovery of eight firearms," Chief Nighelli said. "I commend our officers and detectives for their thorough investigation and commitment to keeping our community safe."
