Fairhaven Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a Tuesday night motorcycle crash on Route 6 that left two men dead.

Sergeant Kevin Kobza says officers received the report of the single vehicle crash around 7:40 p.m. and when officers arrived on the scene they found two men lying on the ground and a heavily damaged motorcycle.

Kobza says it appears that the motorcycle struck a utility pole and that both men were ejected.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as 30-year old Steven Viera was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 33-year-old male passenger, John Lentendre Jr. of Fairhaven, was taken to St. Luke's hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation.
