Taunton Man Pleads Guilty to Oxycodone Conspiracy
BOSTON (WBSM) — A Taunton man has pleaded guilty in federal court to his role in an oxycodone conspiracy.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, John Campbell, 41, pleaded guilty on September 18 to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone pills.
Campbell was indicted on the charges by a federal grand jury in August 2023.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that between July 2022 and June 2023, Campbell distributed oxycodone pills to others for them to further distribute the pills. He obtained them from co-conspirator and co-defendant Kenneth Veiga.
Campbell also distributed oxycodone pills to an undercover agent on four occasions.
During intercepted calls, Campbell was overheard discussing oxycodone prices and quantities in telephone calls and text messages. A search of his residence on July 12, 2023 turned up a digital scale, rubber bands and oxycodone pills.
Veiga pleaded guilty and in July 2024, was sentenced to 60 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Campbell will be sentenced on January 15, 2025. He faces up to 20 years in prison, at least three years and up to life of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million.
