Taunton's Free Play Arcade is set to open soon, and we've got the details on when you can expect to start playing.

Restaurants and bars that are also arcades are the latest craze. Play has been open for years in downtown New Bedford, and we recently told you how Wareham is getting RWND in the early part of 2025.

We also told you last year that Taunton would be home to Free Play Arcade.

Get ready because Taunton is about to open one and it's not the first location for the local owners.

Anthony Santurri, Erik Tidd and Jason Leone have two other locations for Free Play Bar & Arcade, with one in Worcester and another in Providence. Both are clearly doing well since they are now opening another location in Taunton in the old Pizzeria Uno space, and have plans to possibly expand up to Malden and even into New Hampshire.

What makes the Taunton location different from Providence and Worcester?

"There are a few things, like plenty or parking, visibility, and we are adding an outdoor patio," Santurri said.

"The City has just be absolutely wonderful, from showing us different location options to communicating local ordinances, to even the clerks at Town Hall," he said. "All have been just great to work with."

Jay Pateakos, Director of the Office of Economic and Community Development for the City of Taunton, said it's been the same on the City's end when it comes to working with the Free Play owners.

"They have been incredible to work with and the community has been so excited at the thought of an adult-oriented entertainment," he said. "The city can’t wait to see this site come alive again."

Santurri said the new Taunton location will hopefully be ready for a soft opening around March 1 with a grand opening shortly thereafter.

"When we do open, you will see all of us owners on site, getting to know the locals and what they want, what they like and don't like, because each of our locations and our patrons are unique," he said. "We want to make sure we bringing in the right talent to work for us."

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to stop in.
