Officials in North Attleboro are advising town residents to boil their tap water after E. coli bacteria was found during routine water tests on Wednesday.
The boil water order has been lifted in Mattapoisett, but Fairhaven and Marion residents will have to keep boiling their tap water before use until tomorrow at the earliest.
Today could be the day a boil water order is lifted for three of the four SouthCoast communities affected by bacteria contamination found in the water last week.
A boil water order issued last week for residents of Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester is still in place this week, according to a Saturday update from officials.
Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester residents have been issued a boil water order starting today after E. coli was detected in all four towns.
After around five days, Fairhaven's boil water order has been lifted. Town officials said that all recent water samples have tested negative for fecal bacteria, and the water is now proven safe to drink and cook with.
