A Massachusetts State Trooper escaped serious injury Monday night when the trooper's cruiser was rear-ended during a traffic stop on Rt. 24, according to an MSP news release.

The trooper from State-Police Middleboro barracks had pulled over a northbound vehicle near exit 17 in West Bridgewater when the cruiser was struck from behind. The impact pushed the cruiser into the vehicle that had been stopped.

The trooper was outside of the cruiser at the time, and sustained a minor injury while jumping over a guardrail to safety. The motorist in the car that had been stopped suffered minor injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.

In a separate incident Monday night, a second trooper was injured on the MassPike in Warren. The trooper from the Charlton barracks was responding to an eastbound crash when his cruiser was struck by another vehicle. He was hit while outside the cruiser and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Both crashes remain under investigation, according to the MSP.
