UPDATE: The D.A.'s Office has identified the victim as Denise Olson, 74, of Westport.

DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — A 74-year-old woman was killed earlier today when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a dump truck in Dartmouth.

Midday Collision Near State Road in Dartmouth

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said Dartmouth Police and Massachusetts State Police were dispatched to the area of 832 State Road (Route 6) in Dartmouth at about 11:54 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.

The D.A.’s Office said police arrived to find a dump truck pulled over on the right side of the roadway. The investigation revealed the dump truck and a bicycle had collided.

The 74-year-old female cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

The D.A.’s Office said the driver of the dump truck remained on the scene and was cooperative with police.

Investigators Seek Answers

The crash remains under investigation by Dartmouth Police, Massachusetts State Police, and State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
