The Quinn family of Standard Marine Outfitters on Pope's Island in New Bedford/Fairhaven has long been an integral part of our marine and cultural community, supporting our fishing industry, our boating industry and the safety of our greater community.

On Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m., the Quinn family will be hosting a fundraiser with all the monies donated to purchase equipment for the Bristol County Sheriff's Department's K9 team.

There will be K9 demonstrations showing how the highly-trained police dogs detect explosive materials, firearms and narcotics. Bring the family by for a very unique exhibition.

I will also be on hand to broadcast live from 10 a.m. to noon on WBSM.

For over 30 years, family owned and operated Standard Marine Outfitters has been your one-stop for commercial and recreational fishermen and boaters. Their vision was to build a lifelong relationship with their customers by offering quality products at competitive prices.

Stop in for your fishing gear and all your supplies under one roof. Get your first catch of striped bass that are moving back here for the spring. "Schoolies" of young fish are typically found searching for food near the mouths of harbors and coves, with big schools of stripers back in our waters now through early June. Drop into Standard Marine Outfitters on Pope's Island and ask them for favorite fishing locations nearby.
