Authorities are looking for a New Bedford man who allegedly assaulted a K-9 officer Tuesday night in a parking lot at the Dartmouth House of Correction.

According to a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department, the K-9 officer spotted a man in a parked car and went to check his ID.

The officer then learned the man had several active warrants. When he attempted to take the man into custody, the officer was assaulted and the man fled.

The suspect scaled a fence with a police canine in pursuit. The suspect ran behind several businesses along Faunce Corner Road, before escaping the area in a vehicle.

The suspect was identified as 38-year old Lamarr Antone, Sr. of New Bedford.

Anyone who knows Lamarr's whereabouts is urged to call the Sheriff's Department at (508) 995-6400, ext 23-18. Mass. State Police and Dartmouth Police are assisting in the investigation.
