SouthCoast Open for Business: Andrew Silva, Hannoush Jewelers

Businesses all across the SouthCoast and the Commonwealth got a boost of encouragement Monday after Governor Baker announced that barbershops and hair salons could open with new regulations next week, while retail could begin curbside sales. The SouthCoast is slowly beginning the process of reopening for business.

As our lives and commerce inch back to a return to normal, each morning on The Rock and Fox Show, we'll spotlight a SouthCoast business leader who is fighting to continue to grow even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This morning we spoke to Andrew Silva from Hannoush Jewelers.

Andrew talked to us about how he and his family plan to continue to lead their jewelry store as the mandatory COVID-19 shutdown partially gets lifted on Monday.

"For jewelry, it's an interesting one because most people want to come into the store, and I certainly can't blame them," he said.

Clearly, a jewelry purchase is something that most people want to closely inspect. We asked Andrew if he thought that eventually, it would be possible to have customers come into the store to try on jewelry in a private room. He was optimistic that it could be done, and done with responsible social distancing, but that regulations won't allow that quite yet.

"We have a pretty large store, so we will definitely be able to maintain that social distancing that will be required for us going forward," he said. "We'll also limit the number of people that can be in the store at one time, and we'll have the glass dividers."

Silva also told us that many of his customers are doing virtual shopping, where the staff at Hannoush will present different pieces of jewelry during a FaceTime call.
