The Wareham School Department is investigating a plan that would reorganize and move the eighth-graders from the middle school to the high school.

According to South Coast Today, an informational meeting took place on January 14, and officials stated that the meeting was attended by about 60 parents and students that lasted about 90 minutes.

The School Department right now is exploring options because they want to make sure to serve all students academically in the best way possible.

School Committee Chairman Geoff Swett, stated that “he understands that relocating the eighth-graders is a social and emotional move, and that bringing the issue to this kind of forum increases the anxiety.”

The next meeting for the Wareham School Committee will take place on Wednesday, January 27 at 7pm in the Wareham Middle School auditorium, located at 4 Viking Drive.
