Plainridge Park Revenues Dip In August
Revenues were down slightly last month at Massachusetts' lone casino.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported this week that the Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville generated more than $15 million in gross gambling revenues in August.
That's down from about $18 million in July, which was the combination slots parlor-and-harness racing track's first full month of operation.
The casino was expected to generate about $200 million in the first full year of operation.
The state collects 49 percent of gross gambling revenues from the facility, meaning it expects to collect about $98 million from Plainridge after a year. To date, it has pulled in over $19 million.
The casino opened June 24. Two larger resort casinos by MGM and Wynn are expected to open in Massachusetts in 2018. (Associated Press)
