Plainville Man Sentenced for Groping North Attleboro Sales Associate
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Plainville man who has already been convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child was convicted on new charges last week for indecently assaulting a woman at a North Attleboro furniture store.
According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III, David Puccio, 54, was convicted by a jury of his peers in Fall River Superior Court of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.
On November 3, 2021, a female sales associate at the Raymour & Flanigan store in North Attleboro was approached by Puccio, who identified himself as “David” and stated he was looking for a bed for his mother. The victim then spent about 45 minutes showing him around the store.
“He declined to buy anything, and the employee began to walk him towards the exit. The defendant then touched the victim’s right upper thigh and upper buttock area without her consent with an open palm,” the D.A.’s Office said in a release.
“The victim, startled by the touching, jumped and asked him what he was doing?” the D.A.’s Office said. “The defendant apologized, stating ‘I’m sorry. I’m Italian, I walk with my hands.’ The victim told the defendant he needed to leave the store at which point the defendant replied, ‘the furniture in this store is gorgeous.’”
Puccio was sentenced to serve four and a half to five years in state prison, which will commence after he completes a five-year sentence he began serving in December 2022 for violating the terms of his probation connected to the indecent assault and battery of a child in Norfolk County.
“I would like to thank the jury for holding the defendant accountable,” D.A. Quinn said. “The defendant is a convicted sex offender who was on probation and wearing an ankle bracelet when he committed this indecent assault. The defendant is a perverted individual, who is a danger to the community. The victim or anyone else should not have to put up with this depraved behavior.”
“I am pleased that the court sentenced the defendant to the maximum sentence in addition to the sentence he is currently serving. It is well deserved,” Quinn said.
