BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) _ Mass. State Police are investigating a report that a pedestrian has been struck and killed by a Police cruiser in Brockton.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said Saturday that a man struck downtown on Friday night has died of his injuries. Authorities did not identify the victim or the officer involved in the crash and no other details were provided.

The Brockton Enterprise reports the collision happened around 8:30 p.m. in front of the Morabeza Club.

Witnesses told the newspaper that the officer and several other people helped the victim after the crash and that he appeared to have suffered a head injury. Authorities were also seen testing the brakes of the cruiser involved in the crash before towing it away.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating along with county prosecutors.
