NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police arrested a man with a previous firearms conviction on new gun and drug charges during a recent raid.

According to police, Det. Matthew Couture concluded his investigation into a narcotics dealing operation running out of 1181 Pleasant Street No. 3 on August 2.

The target of the investigation was Ishmael Mahmoud, 30.

Police said that a search warrant turned up over 11 grams of fentanyl, 3.4 grams of cocaine, over 33 grams of methamphetamine and suboxone strips.

Also found were “items used in the processing and preparation of narcotics for street-level sales were found, including cutting agents, digital scales, and packaging materials,” police said. In addition, $366 in cash was seized.

They said Mahmoud was also found in possession of a loaded Tristar .45-caliber pistol and loaded Smith & Wesson .38 revolver.
