New Bedford Police have seized a cache of guns, ammo, and knives from a city man.

Police Spokesman Lt. Amos Melo says in a release that detectives with the department's Juvenile/Sexual Assault Division assisted members of the State Police Internet Crimes Against Children unit in executing a search warrant at 108 Willis Street in the West End on Tuesday.

During the search, police found three guns - a Marlin .22 rifle, an SKS 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle, and a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Ammunition for all three guns was also seized, along with several knives.

Police arrested 22-year-old Ishmael Mahmoud as a result of the raid. Mahmoud faces multiple charges relating to the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

State Police also seized all of the computer devices in Mahmoud's home for forensic analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
