WAREHAM — A Marion man was arrested and faces multiple charges after he allegedly struck another vehicle in Wareham while driving drunk with a small child in the car with him on Sunday night.

Wareham Police say that at about 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Cranberry Highway in the area of Main Avenue. Responding officers found that one car had been struck from behind while stopped at a red light.

As officers investigated, they determined that the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, 45-year-old Konstantin Kostin, of Marion, appeared impaired. A small child was also in the car with Kostin at the time of the crash.

Officer Blaise Lalli arrested Kostin for operating under influence of liquor, operating under the influence with child endangerment, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The person in the car struck by Kostin was transported to Tobey Hospital with non-life threating injuries, and the child who was uninjured, was given to relatives.

Kostin was transported to Wareham Police headquarters where he was processed. He was due for arraignment in Wareham District Court on Monday morning.
