Maple Sugaring Event at the Dartmouth YMCA

For those of you who remember the old Dartmouth Children's Museum, this should be a real treat. Maple Sugaring is returning to the Dartmouth YMCA.

For three Saturdays in March, you can participate in the Sweet Science of Maple Sugaring program. Join in the family-friendly fun on March 3, 10, and 17.

Originally created in the early 1990s by the Dartmouth Children’s Museum, the Maple Sugaring program served more than 1,000 students each winter. Knowing the historical popularity of the program, the Dartmouth YMCA has carried on the tradition that started at 276 Gulf Road some 25 years ago. Isn't it crazy that I remember attending one of these in the 5th grade?

In 2014, the Dartmouth YMCA’s Sharing the Harvest Community Farm began overseeing Maple Sugaring, which is a natural fit to complement the farm’s agricultural education programming.

The Sweet Science of Maple Sugaring programs will consist of hour-long tours that start at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a,m. All tours will include tree identification, history of maple sugaring, sap collection, tasting, and sugaring. Just drop in! All tours will be held rain or shine.
