Charges Expected After Violent Mansfield Crash Injures Two
MANSFIELD (WBSM) — Charges are expected following a serious crash in Mansfield this afternoon that resulted in two people being hospitalized with significant injuries.
According to Mansfield Police, the department along with the Mansfield Fire Department responded around noon today to a report of a crash with someone ejected from the vehicle at the intersection of Commercial Street (Route 140) and School Street.
Officers arrived to find a two-vehicle crash between a sedan and a pickup truck, with both vehicles sustaining heavy front-end damage. Witnesses and passing motorists were rendering aid when first responders arrived.

Police: Sedan Was Speeding Before Mansfield Collision
According to police, the preliminary investigation suggests the sedan was speeding and drove into the breakdown lane on Route 140 to attempt to get around traffic. It then ran a red light and struck the pickup truck that was heading westbound on School Street through the intersection, which caused the truck to roll on its side as the driver was ejected.
Condition of Those Injured in the Mansfield Crash
The pickup driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. The sedan driver was taken to Boston Medical Center-South in Brockton, also with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Mansfield Intersection Remained Closed
The intersection was also closed down for repairs due to a traffic signal pole being struck, knocking out all the signals.
Charges Expected as Investigation Continues
Police said charges are expected against the driver of the sedan. The crash remains under investigation.
