A Westport man will appear in court Monday to answer assault and weapons charges.

Westport Police Detective Jeff Majewski says 43-year old Paul Boudria of Division Road was arrested early Sunday in a wooded area behind his home following a six hour manhunt.

Police say Boudria assaulted a 38 year old woman and her 13 year old daughter with a 22 caliber rifle around 6pm Saturday evening.  The victims told police Boudria had arrived at the Division Road home intoxicated and angry.  He allegedly struck the older woman in the abdomen with the butt of the rifle, then struck the 13 year old on the side of the face with the weapon when she tried to intervene.  he then ran off into a nearby wooded area.

Westport and Dartmouth Police responded.  They were later joined by officers from a regional SWAT team, plus a State Police helicopter and several K9 teams.

The suspect was eventually located around 12:40am Sunday and placed under arrest.  The rifle was also recovered.

Boudria has been charged with three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Assault and Battery on a child, and unlawful possession of a firearm.  He'll be arraigned Monday in the Fall River Justice Center.
