Owners Speak Out on Fate of Fairhaven’s Nook
A recent Facebook post caused concern for one local coffee shop and its customers after rumors began to spread that The Nook in Fairhaven could be closing.
How the Rumors Started
On Thursday, August 28, a post was shared with a listing for a rental property that not only included an apartment, but a "leased commercial unit offering potential income or future conversion options."
The photos of said commercial space were of The Nook, a local hotspot in Fairhaven with delicious coffees, linguica rolls and nostalgia lining its walls.

This caused much panic and concern from locals (including myself) who frequent the popular coffee shop.
The Nook’s Official Response
In response to the original Facebook post, The Nook put out one of its own and didn't hold back.
"I can tell you this, we have a lease at our current location and we have a very good relationship with our landlady here. We have been here going on 10 years and have built something very beautiful," the Facebook post read.

The post continued to say "as of right now, we are going under the assumption that this might be our last year at this location. As with anything business related this can change from day to day until something is put in writing."
Fate of The Nook
With that said, what will happen to one of the best coffee shops on the SouthCoast?
Nook owners Paul and Katie Menard said, "We are basically going to be treating these like our last 6 months at The Nook. We are in talks with multiple parties and as I said, who knows what the future brings."

Since the business started, the Menards have concocted some incredible coffee recipes, served fantastic cheese rolls and breakfast pastries, and haven't raised their prices since 2022.

Their passion for serving the community is something they pride themselves on. It's also one thing that will never go away.
"I would love to continue making memories, sharing our time together," the post read. "Taking care of our first responders, teachers, nurses. We opened to be a community center and that will never change."
