Fairhaven Man Arrested In Drug Probe

Fairhaven Police say 51 year old Christopher Bessette faces up to five years in jail following his arrest Monday on charges of trafficking heroin.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza says Bessette was arrested in a parking lot at Route Six and Washington Street.

Police also searched his Washington St. apartment and car, and turned up more than 25 grams of heroin, $1,000 in cash, scales and packaging materials and hypodermic needles and syringes.

Bessette will be arraigned Tuesday morning in New Bedford District Court.

Assisting Fairhaven in the investigation were detectives from Mattapoisett and Dartmouth, and officers from the Bristol County Sheriff's Department, along with agents from the U-S Drug Enforcement Administration.
