FAIRHAVEN — Two people suffered severe injuries after a single-car crash in Fairhaven early Sunday.

The Fairhaven Fire and Police Departments were called out just after midnight for a single-car crash on Howland Road. They arrived to find two people trapped in the car, which was on fire. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze using fire extinguishers.

First responders were able to remove the driver from the vehicle immediately, and the person was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by paramedics. The passenger, however, was “severely trapped,” according to Fairhaven Fire Chief Todd Correia.
