Fairhaven Plans First-Ever Community Birthday Bash
There's a big birthday bash coming to Fairhaven and you're invited.
We're talking about local artisans, community groups, and nonprofits, all coming together to celebrate the town’s past – and where it’s headed next.
On Sunday, February 22, groups like the Village Militia and Millicent Library will provide interactive activities like story times and historical programming.
There’s even a fun historical tease in the works. Director of Discover Fairhaven Alyssa Botelho said Fairhaven may welcome “special appearances” from notable figures of the past, thanks to collaboration with a local playwright involved in the recent Mark Twain and Henry Huttleston Rogers In Their Own Words production.

Food, Fire Pits, and S’mores (Weather Permitting)
If the weather cooperates, the outdoor setup could include fire pits, s’mores, and food trucks.
Some familiar local favorites being lined up include:
- Traveler’s Alehouse
- Dough and Basil
- Potentially Dorothy Cox Chocolates, pending availability
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, no worries; the entire event will move inside Fairhaven Town Hall, vendors and all. Food plans will pivot accordingly, but the celebration will go on either way.
Honoring the Past, Looking to the Future
So what’s the big takeaway of Fairhaven’s birthday bash?
According to Botelho, it’s about honoring the town’s 214 years of history while also celebrating what’s ahead. It’s a moment to reflect on where Fairhaven has been, and build excitement for where it’s going.

You do not have to be a Fairhaven resident to attend.
“Everybody’s invited,” Botelho said. “We love our Fairhaven neighbors.”
A First-Ever Celebration
This is actually the first time Fairhaven has hosted an event like this. While the town marked its bicentennial back in 2012, this new birthday bash is "uncharted territory," and very much a “let’s see how it goes” moment.
If it’s a hit, don’t be surprised if this turns into a new tradition. After all, 215 is a pretty solid number to celebrate next year, too.
