The Belle of the Ball program is on a mission to make prom dreams come true for young girls who otherwise may not be able to participate in the prom tradition.

The Belle of the Ball event includes thousands of gently used dresses, shoes, and accessories donated to local businesses in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. Dartmouth Tailoring Studio will be a collection site for the Belle of the Ball program and is currently the only one located on the SouthCoast.

WBSM reached out to Sue Chouinard of the Dartmouth Tailoring Studio for comment.

“Dartmouth Tailoring Studio is happy to participate with Belle of the Ball as a Collection Partner,” Chouinard said. “In addition to accepting dress donations, I have also attended the Belle of the Ball Boutique Day in Boston. Having participated as a volunteer, I experienced first-hand just how important this opportunity is for so many young women who truly would not have been able to attend Prom without this event.”

Chouinard is also aware that most students have not experienced a traditional prom since the 2019 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and believes the need will be even greater this year.

Chouinard would like to remind the community that local girls are eligible to receive a dress, shoes, and accessories at the invite-only “Boutique Day."

“I also know there are many students wishing to donate gently used gowns in our community,” Chouinard said. “I've already received interest from people who are wondering if we will host a Collection Drive this year and we will happily take donations.”

Dartmouth Tailoring Studio is located at 106 State Road in Dartmouth. You can make your donation on the lower level, first door on the left, Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Donations will be accepted through Friday, February 25.

Belle of the Ball started back in 2005 and has grown to be the spectacle it is today. If you or someone you know would like to receive a dress, please fill out the form HERE.

SouthCoast Kids Celebrate the 100th Day of School

The trend for the last few years has been for kids at the elementary school level to dress up as if they themselves were 100 years old on the 100th day of school. It always brings a smile to my face to see the photos blow up my Facebook newsfeed. The kids and their families get so creative. It's even funnier when the kiddos channel their own avo's when it comes to costume and makeup. We asked our listeners to share their 100th day of school photos with us and we cannot stop laughing over these pictures.
