Dartmouth Police are getting word out to residents that a man may be trying to rob local houses after receiving video of a potential break in.

As you can see in this video from the Dartmouth Police Facebook page, a man in a hoodie sweatshirt approached a house on Potter Street around 1 a.m. on Saturday, attempting to simply walk in the front door.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY:This morning at approximately 1:00 a.m., the male shown in this video approached a house located on Potter Street and appears to check to see if the door is un/locked.After determining that the door was locked, the male left and walked towards Milton Street.Though the footage is not very good, you can see that the male is in all likelihood in his mid-teens to early 20's, and wearing dark clothing and sneakers.If you live in that area and have cameras installed, please check the footage to see if the male also approached your house.As a reminder, always make sure that your doors and windows are locked when you are in bed or if you leave your house unattended.In the event of an emergency dial 9-1-1 and keep your cell phone with you.PLEASE SHARE

After finding the door locked the man leaves and according to police, headed towards Milton Street.

They are asking anyone else who lives in the area who may have security cameras on their homes to take a look at footage from Saturday morning and see if there are any better views of this suspicious man.

From the video they already have he is determined to likely be a male in his mid-teens to early 20's.

Police are also reminding residents to make sure their doors and windows are always securely locked.
