Dartmouth Police Arrest Alaskan Man With Illegally Possessed Firearm
An Alaskan man was arrested recently by Dartmouth Police and was found to be carrying a firearm without a license.
On Friday, December 17, Dartmouth officers served an arrest warrant at the Baymont Hotel to Andrew Whitethorn, 48, of Petersburg, Alaska.
Police say they also learned that Whitethorn had a firearm in his vehicle. Because he is not licensed to carry a firearm in Massachusetts, detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and located a loaded .45-caliber handgun along with several rounds of ammunition.

As a result, Whitethorn was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, and improper storage of a firearm.
“As a result of the outstanding collaborative effort between patrol, K-9, and detectives, an illegally possessed firearm was taken off of the street,” said Dartmouth Police Chief Brian Levesque.
