Construction Company Chosen to Build New Dartmouth Police Station
DARTMOUTH - A construction company has been chosen to build the Town of Dartmouth's new police station.
The Dartmouth Police Station Construction Committee has selected Delphi Construction, Inc., as the building's general contractor after a competitive bidding process.
Delphi presented the lowest bid on the project out of five firms that submitted applications to build the station, according to Project Manager Richard Pomroy of Richard Pomroy Associates. Delphi's bid came in at $8,294,850, with G&R Construction presenting a $8,557,000 bid, and A.P. Whitaker and Sons, Inc., submitting a bid of $8,729,550. WES Construction Corp submitted a bid of $9,943,536, and GVW, Inc., had the highest bid of $12,149,000.
The selection of the Delphi, based out of Mashpee and Waltham, was made at last Tuesday's meeting of the Construction Committee.
The committee also voted to accept requests for a carport, an out building, and a fuel depot for the new station, bringing the total estimated cost for the project to $9,072,700. The estimate is more than $4 million under the $13,467,706 that was appropriated by Town Meeting.
The general contractor contract could be awarded on May 9, the last day an appeals by the Board of Appeals can be filed.
