The Memorial Day parade has been a wonderful tradition for decades. Everyone has their "spot" that they like to sit and socialize with members of the community and then wave to everyone participating in the parade. We all know which ones hand out candy, so we are on the lookout.

However, this year there will be a slight change made to the Memorial Day parade in Dartmouth. Instead of starting at the corner of Elm Street and Bridge Street and then ending at the old Dartmouth Police Station on Russells Mills Road, the committee is reversing the direction of the parade.

Monday, May 27 at 9:15 am is a ceremony at the WWI monument at the old Police Station on Russells Mills Road. The parade will step off at 9:30 am from DYAA Baseball fields on Russells Mills Road. The parade will proceed down Elm Street stopping for a ceremony in the cemetery then continue down Elm Street to Bridge Street. The parade will end at Elm Street/Bridge Street with a ceremony on the Padanaram Bridge.

The decision to reverse the direction of the parade was made in order to maximize the turnout for the ceremonies. So, if you're used to sitting at a certain spot at a particular time, please keep in mind that things are shaking up this year. You may need to arrive earlier or later than usual.
