Buzzards Bay Brewing announced today that while both the Bourne and Westport locations are closed this week due to illness, the Bourne location is closing permanently.

“We will see you in 2022! But, not in Bourne,” the company wrote in an email sent to customers and signed by husband-and-wife owners Bill and Daryl Russell.

According to the email, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has “been the undoing of much of our plans and hopes for the wonderful location on Main St in Buzzards Bay.”

The Bourne taproom opened in September 2019 amongst the storefronts of Main Street, utilizing its indoor space as much as COVID restrictions would allow while also featuring an outdoor patio area behind the building.

“We are thankful to our gracious and generous landlords, Vinny and Noreen Michienzi. They are a constant inspiration and their vision for a revitalized Main Street is one that the Town of Bourne ought to support in every way possible,” Buzzards Bay Brewing wrote.

“Small local businesses are the heartbeat of the American economy and whereas our venture in Bourne has ended, we look forward to applauding the entrepreneurial spirit of the next tenant at this beautiful location,” the email read.

The email also stated that any gift certificates purchased with an intention to be used at the Bourne taproom can be used at the farm in Westport, or the company will issue a refund. For a refund, customers can email the company or call (508) 636-2288.
