Bourne Police Investigate Early Morning Rollover Crash on Route 28
BOURNE (WBSM) — Bourne Police are investigating a rollover crash that occurred in the town early this morning.
According to police, officers responded at about 1:25 a.m. today to Route 28 (Macarthur Boulevard) southbound, just before Brigadoone Road, for a reported rollover crash involving a 2014 Ford Escape.
Police arrived to find the 21-year-old driver with what they said were “serious but non-life-threatening injuries” and his vehicle resting on its roof across both lanes. The driver, who is from Whitman, Massachusetts, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
His name has not been released.

Macarthur Boulevard was then shut down from 1:25 a.m. until 3:23 a.m. due to the vehicle blocking the roadway.
Police said it was determined the Escape was headed south and veered off the right side of the road, striking a fire hydrant and then a large tree, which caused it to roll over and land in the middle of Macarthur Boulevard, about 129 feet from the point of impact.
“The crash is still under investigation, pending possible criminal charges,” police said. “Drug impairment (marijuana) is believed to be a factor.”
