BROCKTON — The victim of a fatal shooting in Brockton on Tuesday night has been identified as 25-year-old city resident Nerilson Lopes, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

Lopes was shot to death in a double shooting that left another man with non-life-threatening injuries, the D.A.'s office said.

The shooting took place at around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday near 987 North Main St.

Police and emergency crews responded and found Lopes in the parking lot of that address suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The second victim was also taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

State and Brockton police are actively investigating.
