Three Arrested in New Bedford’s West End Following Early Morning Vehicle Break-Ins

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Three people were arrested this morning for allegedly breaking into parked vehicles in the city’s West End.

According to New Bedford Police, officers responded just after 4:20 a.m. to the area of Summer Street for a report of three males breaking into parked motor vehicles.

Officers arrived to find three males sitting on the porch of a Summer Street residence, close to where the reported break-ins occurred.

The investigating officers reviewed surveillance footage that police said captured all three males entering a parked car and accessing its trunk. Police said they saw a second vehicle that had been rummaged through, with property scattered across the vehicle and the glove compartment left open.

Charges Filed Against Brockton Men and Juvenile

Arrested were Caspar Gonzalez, 18, of Brockton; Odair Rodrigues, 26, of Brockton; and a 16-year-old juvenile described by police as “from outside New Bedford.” All three were charged with two counts each of breaking and entering into a depository.

They also said the officers recovered several items “in the immediate vicinity” of the suspects, as well as items in the possession of Rodrigues and Gonzalez that are believed to be connected to the vehicle break-ins.
