BROCKTON — A Brockton man was killed after he was struck by an ice-cream truck in the city Thursday night, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

The man has been identified as 54-year-old Joao Fernandes.

At around 6:44 p.m. police were called to the scene at the intersection of North Main and Huntington Streets for a reported crash involving a pedestrian.

First responders arrived to find a man suffering serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, a "Mel's" ice cream truck, had stopped at the scene.

He is not being identified.

Brockton Police are investigating along with Massachusetts State Police.
