Brockton Man Turns Himself in After Fatal Fiery Crash
WEST BRIDGEWATER — A Brockton man has turned himself in and is set to be arraigned later today on charges relating to a fatal car crash on Route 24 earlier this week.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said 33-year-old Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano of Brockton is being booked on charges in connection to the fiery hit-and-run crash that killed 46-year-old Erpharo Gilbert of Raynham on Monday night.
Altamirano will be arraigned on Thursday afternoon at Brockton District Court, according to the D.A.'s office.
He faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, leaving the scene of a crash causing injury, and leaving the scene of a crash that caused property damage.
State police said Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, after a Toyota Scion hit her car while changing lanes.
The impact sent Gilbert's car flying into a concrete barrier in the median, stopping in the left lane before a pickup truck hit the car from behind, causing it to burst into flames.
The Toyota fled the scene.
State police had been searching for the Toyota driver since the fatal crash.
The 23-year-old Brockton man who was driving the pickup truck was not injured.
