Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III has been named as the next president of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association.

Quinn has held the District Attorney position in Bristol County since his appointment in January 2015.

According to a statement released Monday from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, Quinn has over 25 years of experience in prosecution, including eight years as the county's First Assistant D.A.

He has been re-elected twice to his position, once in 2016 and again in 2018.

Quinn is known for advocating against elder abuse, domestic violence, and youth crime, creating the first Elder Abuse Unit and Domestic Violence Unit in the county.

In 2018 he appeared in a documentary on national television about the Aaron Hernandez murder case, for which he led the prosecution.

Quinn was born in New Bedford, grew up in Dartmouth, and currently lives in Fall River with his wife Sharon.

“I am honored my colleagues have elected me as the president of the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association," he said.

"I look forward to working closely with my fellow district attorneys and other government officials to address the many issues facing district attorneys’ offices throughout the Commonwealth."
