A Bridgewater baby couldn't wait to be born, and local firefighters helped usher little Gavin DeLeon into the world on Wednesday morning.

At 11:40 a.m. on Feb. 10,  Massachusetts State Police called the Bridgewater Fire Department to report a woman in labor at the Route 24 Burger King.

Crews arrived, placed the mother in Ambulance 5, and headed off to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. The mother gave birth inside the ambulance at 12:01, delivering a baby boy weighing 4 pounds and 4 ounces.

Firefighter-paramedics Jonathan Hart, Sean Peters and James Reidy used their training to aid in the delivery.

Little Gavin was born to mother Rachelle Gallagher and father Willy DeLeon. Both mother and baby are said to be doing well, the fire department said.
