Bourne Police Seeking Suspicious Driver After Student Offered Ride
BOURNE — Bourne police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspicious driver, after he allegedly offered a student a ride in his car at a bus stop.
Police and school officials said in a joint release that the incident took place at around 3:35 p.m. on Friday near Brady Road and Clapp Lane, after the student was dropped off by the bus.
An older white man with gray hair and a plaid shirt approached the student at the bus stop and offered the student a ride in his car, described by police as a maroon Nissan Sentra.
The student — whose age was not released — did not get into the man's car, according to police.
Police said there is no other information that would indicate any criminal intent, but the department is actively investigating the incident.
Authorities are trying to identify the driver.
According to the release, police officers will increase their presence along bus routes in the district for the rest of the school year.
Anyone with information about the incident or any other suspicious activity along Bourne bus routes is asked to call the department at 508-759-4420.
