A few days relaxing on Cape Cod can be the highlight of the summer and draws thousands of people from all over the country, even the world, to the small towns and beaches every year. But the drive over the Bourne bridge can be a nightmare.

Luckily, a few Bourne Police officers alert the public through their Facebook account about traffic conditions to prepare them for what's to come.

But as you can see, they have a little fun in the process.

Sgts. Brandon Esip and John Stowe created the page nearly a year and a half ago and have already gained over 18,000 followers and counting. The self-declared "minions" infuse some humor to the usual traffic updates you might find on other pages or traffic websites.

Social media is being used more and more by police departments, businesses, non-profit organizations, and many other groups that need to get various kinds of information out to a larger audience.

Stowe says the page keeps the two officers busy, but they enjoy what they're doing.

Although the page gives a lot of attention to humorous traffic alerts, they also provide the public with valuable public safety information, as well as clever updates about new "guests" at the station.

You can hear from both Stowe and Esip this Saturday morning on Saturday Morning with Tim Weisberg as they discuss they're unique blend of information and humor.
