WAREHAM — Wareham Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a series of break-ins in separate communities.

On February 21, Wareham Police were alerted after a male suspect smashed his way into the Wreckless Hobbies shop on Cranberry Highway. Over $3,500 in merchandise was reported stolen.

On Sunday, March 16, a similar incident took place in Foxborough. Wareham Police noted the similarities in the cases and contacted authorities in Foxborough, who had received a tip on a possible suspect.

An investigation revealed that the suspect was living in Bourne. A search warrant for the suspect's home was obtained by Wareham Police detectives.

Detectives from Wareham, Bourne, and Foxborough executed the search warrant on Tuesday afternoon. Police found two loaded firearms, one of them located in the suspect's jacket pocket. A further search of the home uncovered some items that had been reported stolen.

The suspect, Andrew Darby, 29, of 8 Beach Street, Bourne, was arrested and transported to the Wareham Police Department Headquarters where he was held on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in Wareham District Court on charges of breaking and entering into a building in the night with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and vandalizing property. Darby will face additional charges in Bourne and Foxborough.
