Meet Aria

Before her shining moment on the red carpet, LobertI grew up in Johnston, Rhode Island. She earned her undergraduate degree in 2020 from the University of Rhode Island, where she was a fierce advocate for disability equity.

URI shared that Loberti was a delegate at the United Nations International Human Rights Summit, representing the U.S. and women with disabilities.

“She works with U.N. Women to develop new activist student organizations on college campuses and strengthen academic research on women with disabilities,” the university said.

Loberti went on to receive her master's degree in 2021 from Royal Holloway University of London.

Loberti Makes Acting Debut on Netflix

In 2021, it was revealed that the Johnston native was stepping out of the classroom and onto a production set after landing the lead role in the Netflix mini-series All the Light We Cannot See.

She landed the part after a global casting search, beating out thousands of submissions to secure the role, despite having no acting training.

"We never thought our path would lead to someone who has not only never acted professionally, but never auditioned before," director Shawn Levy told Deadline. "It was a jaw-drop moment when we first saw Aria Mia Loberti, who is both a natural performer and an advocate for disability equity and representation.”

Loberti Turns Heads at the Golden Globes

All the Light We Cannot See is a mini-series adapted from Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller. It follows the story of Marie-Laure (Loberti), a blind French teenager, and Werner (Louis Hofmann), a German soldier, whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

After its first season, the show was nominated at this year’s Golden Globes for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

The show didn’t win, but Loberti was a true winner on that red carpet alongside her guide dog, Ingrid.

“How are you enjoying the show so far?” he asked.

“That’s a solid yes,” Loberti said with a laugh.

It was a monumental moment for Loberti and the community she is honored to represent.
