Hundreds of worshippers will turn out Sunday morning for the annual Easter Ecumenical Sunrise Service at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven, a tradition that's been ongoing for 77 years.  .

It's organized by the Interchurch Council of Greater New Bedford, and Executive Minister David Lima says he's amazed by the crowd every year.  He says area residents turn out from many different churches, despite the early hour.  Rev. Lima says after the region's extraordinary winter, what better way to celebrate spring and the newness of life.

Gates open at Fort Phoenix at 5:30am to wait for the 6:20 sunrise. The service will include prayers, traditional hymns and a message from Reverend Paul Fidalgo of the Potter's House and Chapel in Fairhaven.
