Apponequet was expected to be one of the Southcoast’s dominant high school football teams going into the season, and they didn't disappoint in their opener, trouncing Fairhaven 45-0.
The Lakers proved that they will be in the hunt for the South Coast Conference crown, but they can solidify that position this coming Saturday if they can knock off Dighton-Rehoboth in Apponequet’s home opener.
Westin Cohen (160 yards on five carries) and Peter Loranger each scored two touchdowns against Fairhaven. Matt Michael, Troy Nanfelt and Cam Costa each added a score as well.
Kevin Albano led the Blue Devils with 31 yards on nine carries.
