SWANSEA — A 55-year-old man was found in the water off of Swansea Town Beach yesterday and was pronounced dead shortly after.

The Fall River Herald is reporting, early yesterday afternoon, 911 was called after kayakers had spotted a man in the water and had alerted beachgoers to call for emergency services.

The man was pulled from the water where bystanders administered CPR.

The man was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have not yet identified the victim's name until his family is first notified. The incident remains under investigation by Mass State Police Detectives and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

This is the second death at the local beach within the last month and a half.

In late July, 39-year-old Jason Davis of Fall River died while swimming at the town beach with his girlfriend.
