SWANSEA (WBSM) — Sandcastles will come to Swansea during its second annual Sandcastle Festival next month, and residents are invited to participate.

Now is the time to take your creativity to the next level with sandcastle building. Hosted by the Board of Selectmen, the festival will be held on Sunday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Swansea Town Beach.

Community members are encouraged to register in the sand castle contest, with a max of four members per team, by emailing media@swanseama.gov.

Bring your A-game and get ready to create some sand masterpieces. The team with the best sandcastles will walk away with trophies for first, second, and third place.

During the event, a master sculptor will also be on-site, providing tips and tricks to help participants elevate their work.

This day will be a fun opportunity to invite friends and families, regardless of your creative background or if you just want to sit back and watch the participants build their creations. If you are looking for a fun summer activity, take advantage of this one.

The event is free and open to the public to watch the competition. A DJ will play music, and food trucks will be on-site, including GG's Pretzels, BBQ Y MAS, and POPs Pizza.

A few days later, on June 22, Swansea Town Beach will also be officially opened to the public. Lifeguards will be on duty.

"We are thrilled to once again host Swansea's Annual Sandcastle Festival," Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein said. "Last year we had over 500 attendees. The event was a great success and we look forward to welcoming community members back this year."
